Who We Are & How We Came To Be

Our Story

Kitchener’s Trusted Massage Clinic, Savannah Massage Therapy & Wellness Clinic, was created by an RMT with a passion for helping people realize true comfort and good health through a variety of alternative health practices under one roof. That proud clinic owner and RMT is Lisa de Souza.

Lisa graduated and began working as an RMT in 2006. She worked in specialty clinics and continued to take on new courses improving her skills and expanding her treatment offerings for nearly a decade before she moved her practice to Kitchener-Waterloo in 2015. Since then, she has continued to learn new treatments and seek out other passionate Therapists, and Wellness professionals to join the Savannah team. Lisa and her team at Savannah Massage Therapy & Wellness Clinic pride themselves on providing the highest quality treatment to all their patients in a relaxing, friendly and comfortable environment.

The Meaning Behind Our Name & Logo

Lisa grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa until in the year 2000, when she was just 17, her family moved to Canada. She wanted the clinic name and logo to have meaning to her and represent her roots while being unique and memorable.

“The Tree – Acacia Trees is an iconic tree and second to the more popular tree known as the Baobabs. These trees are well-known landmarks in the veld(bush)/savannas in Africa. The hands resemble me as an RMT. Without our hands, we therapists would not be able to do the work we love, and after 13 years as a Massage Therapist, I can honestly say I love what I do. These two features of the logo meet and combine to create the roots of the tree since they are indeed the roots of my life, and the circle represents the unity of that and our abilities to treat the body as a whole.”  – Lisa de Souza, Owner / RMT

Lisa de Souza

Owner, RMT, Nutritionist (RNCP)
Lisa graduated from Canadian Therapeutic College in 2006, and is in good standing with the College of Massage Therapist of Ontario.
Lisa has taken many courses throughout her career in Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Myofascial Release and Kinesiology Taping (K-Tape). Lisa has also completed her Nutritional Consulting Practitioner course with the Alive Academy.
She believes these techniques enhance her ability to provide the highest quality care to all her massage patients.
Lisa’s career began in Oakville, Ontario where she worked for 8 years along side a team of Physiotherapists, Athletic Therapists, Osteopaths and fellow Massage Therapists. In 2015, she moved her practice to the Kitchener-Waterloo area where she applied her Craniosacral techniques and gained valuable skills working with clients in a specialized physiotherapy clinic; with vestibular and concussion based injuries as the focus.
In her career, she has treated patients with various conditions ranging from repetitive strain injuries, sport injuries, motor vehicle injuries, concussions, vestibular and post-surgery patients. Her patients have included World-Class Athletes, Weekend Warriors, Babies and Seniors Citizens.
The most satisfying aspect of being a massage therapist in Lisa’s opinion, is just how powerful and effective therapeutic touch is. The amazing support and outcomes that just a few treatments can provide for clients from all walks of life is extremely rewarding. No matter what the ultimate goal is, seeing the impact one can have on peoples’ rehabilitation is amazing. Lisa prides herself on providing the highest quality treatment to all her patients in a relaxing, friendly and comfortable environment.

Lisa is currently not accepting new clients. Thank you for understanding.
